Paediatric Osteopathy is based on the principle that all ailments - whether minor or serious - are as a result of an imbalance somewhere in the network of the body's systems. A paediatric osteopath will use manual techniques to bring about profound changes within the child's body through gentle manipulation. This will allow the different body systems - the nervous system, the immune system, the muscular system and the circulatory system - to work effectively and optimally. The treatment uses no drugs, and is non-invasive.

Many childhood ailments can be traced back to traumas and strains received at birth, while a new mother's wellbeing may be similarly compromised for months and even years to come. The sooner an osteopath is able to diagnose and treat a baby, the easier it is for the balance within that child to be restored. Similarly, a post-natal check of the mother can help her to avoid poor mental and physical health, both in the short term, as she devotes all her time to the new baby, and in the long term, as it can help to prevent and correct the physical traumas which result from childbirth.
